For the past ten years, Tor Martin Olsen has made a living from his entrepreneurial activities. He has started a number of companies - first in marketing on Facebook, then animation with his own Animer Animation Studio, and now he has developed his own e-commerce platform "Scale Group".
On Monday 6 February, he and his team will launch "Gallery Shop". It is an online store solution where photographers and artists can sell photos and other products without risk. Olsen explains to Kampanje that anyone who wants to can create their own personal online store where they can sell their own or other people's products.
Olsen has brought Cewe Group into the team - one of Europe's leading image production companies. The company's turnover is in excess of seven billion Norwegian kroner.
- This is probably the best thing I have ever done. The fact that we have brought Cewe as a partner I believe is a solid sign of quality for our service. I am very proud of this, says Olsen
- How did you get Cewe on the team?
- It was actually Cewe in Norway who contacted me as they immediately loved the concept and said they wanted to join the team. It makes it possible for us to offer our users to sell their photos in print to customers throughout Europe, explains Olsen.
Quite naturally
Santina Lafjell Crolla , key account manager in Cewe Skandinavia tells why they wanted cooperation with Olsen's entrepreneurial business.
- Gallery is a product that is reflected in our profile. When we were presented with the concept, it was only natural for Cewe to land on Gallery as a collaboration partner and vice versa, she explains.
She says that she is proud to be able to give photographers the opportunity to sell prints through Cewe, at the same time she believes that the opportunities for international investment are very good with Gallery on the team.
- Cewe is a large group, and we are the market leader in Europe. Therefore, we also have the opportunity to distribute the products throughout Europe. We produce the images in Germany, where Cewe has its headquarters, says Lafjell Crolla.
She believes that Gallery simplifies the process for the customer, which can also increase the likelihood that customers will actually use the service.
- I look at the service with the eyes of a photographer. It is practical, and I would definitely have used the concept if I were a professional photographer myself, she says.
500 pre-registered
Olsen is the founder and manager of several of the companies he has started. He himself has started the group "Scale Group", which is the group owner of his entrepreneur websites. Here you can find 4 of his marketplaces, including Gallery.shop.
- There are already around 500 people who are pre-registered users for Gallery.Shop, without having even seen the entire online store. It is yet another proof that there is room for a service like ours in the market, says Olsen.
At Gallery, everyone who registers gets the opportunity to create their own online store with their products. If you are not a photographer or artist yourself, you can sell other people's products in your own online store.
- You can also sell digital products and upload videos, word documents, e-books and all types of files and set a desired price and profit on them, he says and adds
- The solution allows you to set up and run everything completely free of charge, but we take a small part of the turnover to the users if they are successful. That's how we want to make money. In other words, if our users generate income, so do our suppliers - and ultimately us too. So it's a win-win-win formula that we feel very comfortable with.
Developers in Ukraine
In addition to Olsen himself, the entrepreneur gets help from Ukraine.
- Our developer team is based in Ukraine and is associated with the "Scale Group" where we have all our companies. Together we launched Supporter.no in 2019, but then Covid came soon after and then there were big challenges for the sport, says Olsen and continues:
- And last year it crashed in Ukraine. It was quite surreal. But I'm glad our team is safe and well. The most important thing we could do was to be able to offer them a job and a secure income in an uncertain time. It has been an emotional journey, says Olsen.
Now he hopes for peace of mind for himself and his partners in the coming year.
- It is always fun and exciting to start something new. Together, we hope that 2023 may be the first year that we get a little more peace of mind and can focus on helping our users both at Gallery.shop and Supporter.no. We are very much looking forward to that, says Olsen
